Supernatural Sengoku Era
The provinces are governed by the existing remixed Sengoku order. Its supplied houses, leagues, local powers and opening jurisdictions are the political baseline, even where they differ from a strictly reconstructed 1495. Court office, hereditary title, actual possession and lawful command are distinct sources of authority. The Ashikaga institution retains prestige in Kyoto; provincial households maintain their own revenues, marriages, hostages, retainer networks and ambitions. Merchant ports, agricultural villages and religious foundations retain their existing place in that order. Ezo is inhabited by Ainu communities and southern trading settlements; the absence of a supplied central controller does not erase them. The Korean coastal areas retain their supplied local-power designation, with their Joseon administrative context. The isolated Takeda affiliation in eastern Ezo remains part of the remixed opening distribution and represents an overseas enclave, without conferring authority over neighboring communities. Chakra is the supernatural infrastructure of the warrior institutions. Shinobi retainers, scouts, couriers, guards, armed landholders and temple or league combatants form the military order. There is no separate samurai social class. Kage govern regions through existing household, clan and retainer structures. A Kage occupies the political position of a daimyo and is among the region’s most powerful shinobi; Kage replaces the former Daimyo and Shogun titles in this fusion. Administration remains rooted in castles, clan holdings, temples and household networks. Genin, Chūnin and Jōnin are recognized service ranks, with specialists and commanders appointed by their institutions. Shinobi Commanders lead forces, Shinobi Retainers serve patrons, and Clan Shinobi belong to their clans. Clan leadership remains part of an individual’s background. Wandering Shinobi travel independently; Missing-nin are criminal shinobi. Senin are sages who have Sage Mode and practice senjutsu. Sanin is a distinct legendary-shinobi title, never a synonym for Senin. Jinchūriki are hosts of sealed tailed beasts. Physical and spiritual energy combine into ordinary human chakra. Injury, age, nourishment, rest and concentration affect its production. Reserve capacity and control are separate. Nature transformation changes chakra's elemental properties; shape transformation directs its form, density and movement. Fire, Wind, Lightning, Earth and Water follow their established interaction cycle. Yin and Yang arts, combined natures, dōjutsu, summoning, senjutsu, medical practice and sealing require their particular training or physiology. Bloodline manifestations are selective. A house name alone neither awakens a dōjutsu nor makes an inherited capacity universal. House curricula preserve the source document's assignments. Takeda maintains Byakugan and Gentle Fist traditions. Uesugi and Nagao institutions preserve the Yuki Ice Release bloodline. Mōri inherits Senju-associated vitality and broad ninjutsu; Wood Release is exceptional. The Hōjō authority carries the Ise house's Nara shadow tradition. Main-line Shimazu preserves Uzumaki-associated reserves, vitality and sealing. Oda maintains the Sarutobi Fire and Wind curriculum. Matsudaira retains Yamanaka mind-transfer traditions within the existing political landscape; its existence does not repaint Oda territory. Date preserves the Kaguya bone-manipulation bloodline. Imagawa maintains Aburame insect colonies and symbiosis. Asakura preserves Akimichi calorie-control and expansion arts. Chōsokabe maintains Inuzuka ninken partnerships. Saitō preserves Uchiha Fire Release and selectively manifested Sharingan. Azai maintains a Terumī-associated combined-nature lineage, with either Boil or Lava Release selected for an individual. Hosokawa preserves rare Scorch Release. The Shimazu Ōsumi branch separately preserves Iron Sand Magnet Release; an individual receives that branch package or the main-line package. Hatakeyama maintains Hatake-associated chakra-blade and Lightning schools, without an automatic hereditary eye power. Ashina maintains Hōzuki Hydrification and Water Release. The Matsunaga natural-energy absorption tradition remains dormant at the opening. Kikuchi preserves guarded Black Lightning. Those subsidiary institutions can exist under a supplied dominant controller without acquiring a new starting territorial monopoly. No extra package is invented for an otherwise unmapped house. Exclusive traditions are political assets: teachers, archive access, family screening, marriage arrangements, hostages, adoption and succession disputes govern who is trained and protected. Marriage and service change obligations, not biological inheritance. Independent shinobi can acquire general instruction, patronage and techniques without beginning with a mapped exclusive package. Summoning lineages are autonomous partners; an Oda family association does not automatically secure a monkey contract. Chōsokabe ninken are individual living partners. Insect colonies need food, breeding and suitable conditions. Akimichi campaigns depend on stores and medicines as well as individual chakra. Fortified residences, mountain strongholds, temples, granaries, ports, checkpoints and river crossings employ sensor watches, authentication procedures, traps, seals and rapid-response teams. Their effectiveness depends on staff, upkeep, access and secrecy. Ordinary roads, boats, weather, harvests and disease still shape strategy. Chakra enhances scouting, medical care, infiltration and battlefield mobility; it does not erase the need to move food, maintain equipment or persuade actual subordinates. Trade and matchlock access remain those of the supplied remix, including its Nanban connections; the chosen date does not silently replace that starting technology or commercial context. Guns remain dangerous weapons against an unprotected body and chakra does not confer automatic immunity. The nine tailed beasts are ancient sentient chakra beings. They presently remain free, with no publicly acknowledged controlled host or completed host project. Their named starting positions establish locations, not knowledge available to all factions. Shukaku occupies the Tottori dunes and western San'in coast. Matatabi frequents the snowy Dewa–Echigo uplands. Isobu dwells in Lake Biwa and connected waters. Son Gokū occupies the Aso–Kujū volcanic belt. Kokuō follows the Fuji–Hakone geothermal corridor. Saiken inhabits the Nōbi wetlands and Ise Bay marshes. Chōmei occupies Kumano and Kii forest routes. Gyūki frequents Naruto Strait and the eastern Inland Sea. Kurama ranges around Mount Kurama and northern Yamashiro. Each has memory, judgment, boundaries and its own response to intrusion. Their disturbance may resemble weather, but human communities negotiate with or persecute persons, not impersonal disaster counters. Akatsuki is a covert trans-house network of missing-nin, dispossessed specialists, brokers and ideologues. It has no sovereign starting domain. Its cells sell intelligence and deniable services while disagreeing over deterrence, revolution, profit, revenge and the use of tailed beasts. The opening network seeks three reliable beast-route dossiers and a viable sealing archive. Local Ikkō-ikki leagues remain the political and religious forces represented by the supplied map, rather than a single national army. They mobilize through food, oaths, sanctuary and local institutions. Black Zetsu pursues Kaguya's restoration through corrupted archives, genealogies, inheritance conflict, selective disclosure and stolen sealing research. Kaguya's origin, Hagoromo's teachings, the Indra–Ashura inheritance conflict and the beasts' ancient history remain metaphysical facts. No living Naruto-series human cast is added at the opening. Ancient history supplies motives and mechanisms rather than a prescribed sequence of future events. The northern trading communities and coastal administrations have their own chakra-trained escorts, healers and custodians. These are general local practices, not new monopolies over a Naruto house package. Fictional northern exchange sites are established river-mouth, river-crossing and coastal communities in this scenario. They provide food, winter-route knowledge, translation, sanctuary and negotiable passage without converting their surrounding cells into new sovereign domains. Each restored individual remains at the original starting position and carries the original political allegiance; household forces stay within that person’s resources. The chronicle opens in 1495, the Year of the Fractured Seal. The existing cast, personal histories, succession pressures, kinship, arms trade, territorial distribution and starting resources are the established state of this alternate 1495 worldline. Historical names identify their counterparts here; their presence does not move the calendar forward. Nobunaga is a contested young Oda Kage; Yoshimoto dominates the Tōkaidō and holds Motoyasu through hostage arrangements; Shingen expands toward Shinano; Kenshin receives Uesugi refugees; Motonari balances Ōuchi instability against Amago pressure; the Hōjō extend Kantō fort networks. Yoshiteru and the imperial court retain prestige with limited armed reach. Miyoshi influence constrains Kyoto. Northern succession, marriage and coastal rivalries remain active. The route to Kyoto and coalition against an overmighty house remain the central political contest. Shinobi Force is an actual headcount of trained troops under direct command. Rulers maintain household and clan forces, temples maintain their own committed defenders, and independent shinobi command only the troops actually assigned to them. Koku supports recruitment, food, wages and equipment. Commanders and detached armies receive troops by transfer from an existing force; absence, garrison duty, casualties and recovery affect what can be deployed again. Matsudaira’s separately recorded household troops are excluded from Yoshimoto’s direct Imagawa pool; their existing hostage and service obligations still constrain deployment. ## The struggle over teaching and protection The public conflict is over land, revenue, faith and lawful service; chakra gives each dispute another material stake. A village needs trained healers, escorted harvest traffic and maintained protective tags. A house may fund that work in return for service, reserve instruction for approved retainers, or demand custody of promising students. Temple communities offer general chakra schooling and sanctuary through their own teachers and donors. Their claim to spiritual dignity does not erase Buddhist belief or make Hagoromo an object of compulsory worship. Some teachers interpret his connecting spiritual legacy alongside their faith; others reject that synthesis. Neither belief grants a bloodline or a house-exclusive hiden. These arrangements are local and contested, rather than one national chakra law. In Kaga, leagues defend communal instruction and resist forced service or seizure of sanctuary custodians. In Echizen, sanctuary traffic competes with household provisioning and frontier security. Around Kyoto, whoever maintains a ward may possess practical leverage without owning the neighborhood. A rival can contest a teacher’s patronage, a courier’s authority or a barrier’s maintenance without acquiring its operator’s inherited arts. Chakra labor here means a trained person’s time, bodily effort and finite reserves; it is not an automatic machine for extracting energy from civilians. ## Historical events translated into this worldline The dates and historical structures below are research anchors. Their chakra causes, operations and surviving disputes are original scenario adaptations. They supplement the preserved opening map and cast: no new historical entry supersedes an existing controller, kinship, biography or retained event. Historical participants named in background do not thereby become new living entities. No future battle is scheduled as destiny. ### Ōnin War, 1467–1477: the destruction of trusted command Historical anchor: succession disputes and rival military coalitions devastated Kyoto and weakened central authority. Chronicle translation: house shinobi contested courier relays, fortified residences and the custodians of neighborhood barriers. Burned archives broke chains of appointment and service; competing signatures and surviving witnesses now sustain incompatible claims. Ordinary fire, hunger and displacement remained decisive. In 1495 the aftermath concerns restoration debts, lost instructors, shelter rights and disputed documents. Aya’s repair work, Shizue’s archival trade and Yoshiteru’s search for recognition each approach a different part of that inheritance. There is no newly imposed single secret archive or obligatory recovery quest. ### Kaga’s Ikkō-ikki, 1474–1488: allies become targets Historical anchor: Hongan-ji adherents participated in Togashi succession struggles; subsequent repression displaced believers toward Etchū, and the 1488 coalition defeated Togashi Masachika. Religious organization, local landholders and succession politics all mattered. Chronicle translation: league escorts and general-school practitioners helped a claimant, then faced demands that sanctuary teachers surrender students for household service and place community protective work under approved retainers. Levy disputes involved rice, medical supplies and the time of trained custodians. Refuge carried teachers, family records and mutual-aid agreements across provincial boundaries. These invented disputes explain why support turned into resistance without pretending the historical movement arose solely over supernatural powers. The 1488 overthrow is established background to the draft’s league autonomy. Its shinobi operations combined sanctuary networks, local intelligence, disrupted supplies and pressure upon the defending household; no impossible mass awakening or compulsory mind control supplied victory. The outcome left a coalition of villages, clergy and landholders with differing interests. It did not make Kennyo an unquestioned national commander or erase rival religious institutions. Present conflicts concern harvest levies, recognition of teachers, return of refugees and who may negotiate for a community. Otsuru worries about feeding local households; Chisa depends on reliable sanctuary agreements; Gen’an favors armed defense; Sōbei must provision the network. Their disagreement is political, material and religious, not proof that one faction secretly controls them all. ### Yamashiro’s provincial league, 1485: removing both armies Historical anchor: local landholders and residents organized to expel rival Hatakeyama armies and establish regional self-government. This provincial league is distinct from Kaga’s Ikkō-ikki; not every ikki belongs to Hongan-ji. Chronicle translation: local shinobi households and villages coordinated withdrawal demands, denied requisitions and contested military access to roads, ferries and ward custodians. Cooperation depended on who could feed guards and authenticate a shared order. By the present opening, its precedent survives in records and local arguments over negotiated autonomy; it is not a newly declared sovereign state on the map. A house envoy may challenge those claims, a healer may invoke sanctuary, and a clerk may investigate the actual agreement. ### Meiō political rupture, 1493: office and obedience separate Historical anchor: Hosokawa Masamoto displaced the shogun, with regional military participation supporting the resulting power struggle. Chronicle translation: access to household guards, appointment records, seal custodians and authenticated messages determined whose commands reached provincial officers. Political recognition could change without a duel between the strongest individuals. In 1495 old mandates and replacement confirmations remain grounds for disputes about service and patronage. This is the inherited background to the source’s two-years-after-the-rupture setting; the retained Yoshiteru, Miyoshi and other opening relationships remain the draft’s deliberate remix rather than a literal reconstruction of the historical succession. ### Religious authority and restraint after Kaga’s victory Historical records also preserve clerical criticism of participation in uprising. Chronicle translation: senior teachers may defend sanctuary while condemning punitive raids, coerced oaths or the diversion of relief supplies. Armed leagues cannot assume that religious affiliation grants permission for every operation. Kennyo’s current position therefore involves negotiating among local stewards, militant preachers and institutions that support believers but dispute their methods. This creates room for mediation, reform, resistance and defection without assigning a player the correct response. ## Individual opening premises The shared world premise stays fixed. On character selection, the opening focuses on that individual’s established province, station, patronage, knowledge, relationships, resources and immediate pressure. The following are possible framings, not completed events, compulsory objectives or possessions added to anyone’s sheet. - Hara Otsuru: a request for league provisions meets the needs of the villages she already organizes. Whether to negotiate, contribute, refuse or investigate remains open. - Fukuda Chisa: sanctuary correspondence must travel through authorities with competing expectations. The opening can concern verification, terms of passage or an escort rather than a compulsory ambush. - Gen’an: demands for armed defense meet the limits of supplies and clerical endorsement. Mobilization, restraint and persuasion are available approaches. - Kanda Sōbei: Ishiyama’s provisioning obligations expose the difference between promised solidarity and food actually available. - Kennyo: recognition of a local compact risks alienating a different constituency; recognition is neither automatic command nor agreement by every believer. - Tsukino Aya: shelter repairs reveal competing claims over who may appoint and pay ward custodians. - Kuroda Shizue: patrons want different interpretations of damaged appointment or genealogy records; authenticity must be investigated rather than assumed. - Oda Nobunaga: securing a contested inheritance intersects with the instructors, branches and retainers whose cooperation sustains his house. - Matsudaira Motoyasu: hostage arrangements constrain access to his existing retainers and intelligence channels; neither escape nor defiance is presumed. - Mōri Tomoe: hostage welfare and a patron’s intelligence needs pull her work in different directions. - Nagao Fuyumi: the search for her missing mentor competes with pressure to turn uncertain Matatabi evidence into a capture expedition. - Shimazu Renka: funding research into Son Gokū’s volcanic signs brings trade demands without making the beast merchandise. - Chiyome: competing employers seek access to her existing informants; accepting a contract, its loyalty or its risks remains a player decision. - Mosiri or Shirakani: passage, healing and northern exchange involve local communities’ authority, rather than automatic service to a southern house. - A tailed beast: intrusion, remembered mistreatment and the conditions of coexistence frame an opening appropriate to a sentient being; human ambitions are not imposed upon it. - Any other existing individual or a newly created character: derive an equally specific opening from established state. For a new character, use only the background and obligations the player accepts; missing relationships, powers and possessions remain Unresolved. A personal premise presents an actionable pressure and what the character can perceive. It does not assign the player’s inner reaction, pledge, movement or first action. Distinct starting situations can change with character choice; selecting another character within an existing campaign does not reset time, undo consequences or manufacture a new worldline. ## Research provenance Historical anchors were checked against Princeton University’s Ōnin War project; Kyoto Prefecture’s Yamashiro history; Nonoichi City’s account of the Togashi conflict and 1488 uprising; Kanazawa City’s archaeological chronology of the leagues; and Fukui Prefectural Archives’ 1481–1500 chronology. All supernatural operations and character-specific applications above are original adaptations, not documented historical claims. In the Year of the Fractured Seal, 1495 by the old calendar of the Floating Court, the right to teach the Living Breath—chakra—has become the axis of power across a shattered archipelago of mist-wreathed provinces, floating islets, and mountain realms that drift on currents of ley-wind. Great houses guard bloodline arts as living heirlooms, their ancestral spirits bound into family crests and forbidden scrolls. Temple leagues of the Hollow Peaks defend communal training grounds and sanctuary-grottoes where the Breath is shared without lineage. Merchant towns bargain for safe passage along spirit-roads that shift under moonlight, while rival claimants contest the vacant throne of the Celestial Capital, whose once-radiant seals now flicker like dying stars. The scars of the Ōnin Sundering, the Kaga League’s uprising, and the Meiō Rupture still bleed: burned spirit-archives whose knowledge has taken ghost-form, disputed service-oaths written in blood that refuse to fade, and protective seals whose living custodians answer to competing patrons some mortal, some half-spirit, some already more myth than flesh.
Original political and strategic mechanics are retained through their unchanged identifiers and bands. The bushido identifier represents shinobi discipline. Apply the fusion titles consistently: Kage replaces Daimyo and Shogun and denotes a regional ruler among that region’s most powerful shinobi. Senin have Sage Mode and use senjutsu; never confuse Senin with the separate Sanin title. Missing-nin are criminal shinobi; Wandering Shinobi are independent travelers. Jinchūriki are hosts of sealed tailed beasts. Use the saved Station definitions for Shinobi Commander, Shinobi Retainer and Clan Shinobi, and retain clan leadership in character backgrounds. Character-specific opening: derive the first situation from the selected entity’s established location, resources, relationships, knowledge and office. Use a personal pressure from that state instead of imposing conquest or a shared quest. New-character obligations require player acceptance. A possible hook is not a completed event, item, discovered fact or accepted mission. Changing viewpoint preserves the campaign’s existing date and consequences. Player sovereignty and reactive techniques: do not invent the inhabited character’s thoughts, feelings, intent, consent, dialogue, movement, attacks, defenses, pledges or resource expenditure. Present NPC demands and perceptible pressure, then stop at the player-owned decision. When an aware, capable character can react to an attack or irreversible threat, obtain the declared response before resolving it. Genjutsu records altered perception separately from objective reality; mind transfer, restraint and hostile chakra can impose only their established, defended mechanical effects, never an authored loyalty or decision. Continuity authority: the entire chronicle opens in the separate Sengoku Shinobi worldline of 1495. Preserve its established people, offices, technology, kinship and territorial state as facts of this alternate 1495 setting. Background history is not an instruction to advance the calendar. Canon Naruto humans enter through explicit user-directed character creation. Kaguya, Hagoromo, Indra–Ashura, Black Zetsu and bijū metaphysics persist; future historical or manga outcomes are not predetermined. Historical causality: before an adapted event advances, identify the actors, motive, knowledge, lawful or contested authority, alliance, supplies, route and time that enable it. Preserve its historical social or religious pressures where they fit; translate military methods through established chakra capabilities. If a required cause changes, alter, postpone or cancel the event. Historical background does not spawn an actor, repaint territory or erase an existing biography. Black Zetsu may exploit an actual opening but does not cause every rebellion or receive knowledge of private scenes. Instruction and lineage: community schools teach general chakra arts through named teachers, materials and training time. Neither temple membership, marriage, service, a stolen archive nor a political victory grants a second exclusive house package, creates a kekkei genkai or bypasses individual manifestation. Wood Release remains exceptional. An awakening, summon contract or advanced seal needs its own established prerequisites and consequences. Chakra and tactical limits: every consequential technique uses its established access, activation, cost, range, duration, defense, tell and counterplay. Reserve and control remain separate; injury, nourishment, fatigue and maintenance constrain use. Transformation does not supply memories or credentials; sensors do not automatically reveal identity or motive; clones have defined substance, divided resources and feedback. Do not claim external dice receipts or Prism validation unless those facilities actually performed the resolution. League mobilization: a temple or league leader must secure each community’s contribution through actual agreement, authority or coercion and its consequences. Check food, medicines, custodians, routes and time before an armed operation. Withholding contributions reduces available support; it does not automatically change belief or political allegiance. Coerced oaths require enforcement and can be resisted; seals are not universal obedience devices. Kaga’s leagues, Yamashiro’s provincial autonomy tradition and other religious institutions retain distinct memberships and interests. Protective works and military legitimacy: a barrier needs its known formula, materials, operators, finite chakra and maintained coverage. Losing a custodian or supplies compromises the specific work it sustains, not all protection everywhere. A valid command requires recognized authority and delivery to someone able and willing to execute it; possession of an appointment seal alone grants neither universal obedience nor ownership of every ward. Raids, sieges and deployments still require supply, transport, intelligence and time. Bijū and information: existing beast markers establish starting positions, not public knowledge or confinement. Cooperation must be earned with the individual beast; capture and host creation require separate containment, bodily survival, seal maintenance and relationship consequences. No opening hook creates a host or controlled weapon. News and evidence travel through actual witnesses, couriers, archives and detectable chakra traces; distinguish testimony, interpretation and fact.
