Caesar vs Pompey
The Roman Republic is torn by civil war. Caesar's Populares hold Italy, Gaul, and parts of Hispania. Pompey's Optimates command the eastern provinces, Africa, and the sea. Beyond Rome's borders, kings and chieftains—from the Parthian Empire to the tribes of Britannia—watch for opportunity. The fate of the ancient world hangs in the balance.
It is 49 BCE. Julius Caesar has crossed the Rubicon, defying the Senate and Pompey the Great. Italy falls under Caesar's control, while Pompey and the Optimates retreat to Greece and Hispania. Across the Mediterranean, kingdoms and warlords choose sides or seize the chaos for their own gain.
Each faction controls territory (cells) that provide resources. Resources include people, money, food, war horses, and war elephants. Use diplomacy, alliances, and military power to expand your borders. Territory control affects your access to resources. Watch global tension; if it rises too high, total war becomes inevitable.
